Creating a pair of acetate sunglasses involves a multi-step process that combines craftsmanship, precision, and attention to detail.

The first step is to create a design for the sunglasses. Designers sketch the shape, size, and style of the frame. The design might include details like the temple width, bridge type, and lens shape. After that prototypes are made, often using 3D modeling to fine-tune the fit, look, and functionality.

Our favourite material is Acetate, a type of plastic made from plant-based materials (usually cotton or wood pulp), is chosen for its lightweight, durable, and hypoallergenic properties. Acetate is available in various colors and patterns, which can be chosen to match the design.

The acetate blanks are heated until they become pliable,
then placed into molds or pressed into rough frame shapes.
For more intricate designs, our skilled artisans handcraft the frames.

After the basic shape is formed,
the frame undergoes several stages of sanding
to smooth out rough edges and surfaces.
This process may involve both hand-sanding and machine-sanding to ensure the frame has a uniform and polished finish.

The lenses,
which are always made of high-quality optical materials
such as CR-39 or polycarbonate,
are cut to fit the specific shape of the frame.

They are tinted for the highest UV protection.
Once the lenses are prepared,
they are carefully inserted into the frame’s lens slots,
often secured with small screws or snaps.

Hinges are attached to the temples,
which allow the sunglasses to open and close smoothly.
High-quality metal are used for durability and ease of use.
The hinge components are often riveted or screwed into place.

The sunglasses are tested for comfort and fit.

The temples are adjusted to ensure they align with the wearer’s head properly. Any necessary adjustments to the nose pads or temple length are made at this stage.

A final inspection ensures the sunglasses meet quality standards. The frame is checked for any imperfections in the material, fit, and finish, and the lenses are examined for proper alignment and clarity.

Before being packaged, the sunglasses are thoroughly cleaned to remove any dust or residue from the production process.
The finished sunglasses are placed in protective cases, typically made from hard materials like leather or microfiber, to prevent damage during shipping and handling.

This entire process combines industrial technology with a touch of artistry, making acetate sunglasses both functional and stylish.
